Dr. Sumit Seth, Ambassador of India to Panama, Costa Rica & Nicaragua.

Dr. Sumit Seth - India’s Ambassador to Panama, Costa Rica & Nicaragua - is a career diplomat, member of the prestigious Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

He was head of the Foreign Policy Planning ​Division ​at the Ministry of External Affairs, prior to this assignment.

Earlier, Dr Sumit Seth served as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India - Yangon, Myanmar. He was also posted at India’s Missions in Madrid, Bogota, and Permanent Mission from India to United Nations, Geneva.

At Headquarters, Dr Seth has served as Deputy Chief of Protocol and Deputy Secretary, #digitaldiplomacy.

He has an advanced level diploma in Spanish language and has attended academic programmes on International Relations at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Boston  and Elliott School of International Affairs, Washington DC, and Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Honolulu, Hawaii.

His areas of interests are Neighbourhood Diplomacy, Health Diplomacy, ​I​ndo-Pacific, Foreign Policy Planning​,  Digital Diplomacy​ and India’s relations with Latin America.

Before joining the Diplomatic Career, he worked as medical doctor and specialised in Forensic Medicine & Medical Jurisprudence.

He is an alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College and Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi.

He has authored of a book for medical graduates in India - “Review of Forensic Medicine” (7th Edition)

Dr. Seth is married to Mrs. Dimple Seth. They have two children. His personal interests include Yoga, Swimming, Chess, Books, and writing Poetry and Short-Stories.
